Kerrie Davies in conversation with Paula McLean 4:30-5:30pm, Saturday 12 July 2025 Dormie House, Moss Vale

On 12 July, author, Kerrie Davies will be in conversation with Paula McLean to discuss Kerrie's latest work of non-fiction, Miles Franklin Undercover. Miles Franklin Undercover is the real-life sequel to Miles' coming of age debut novel, My Brilliant Career, which made her the literary darling of the season. But My Brilliant Career was only the start of her story. After the success and celebrity of My Brilliant Career, published when Miles Franklin was only 21, in 1903 she disappeared. Miles Franklin Undercover is the story of the decade that made her second career as a fearless advocate for working women. Kerrie Davies is the author of A Wife’s Heart, that created national discussion about the iconic poet Henry Lawson and his marriage. She has appeared at the Sydney and Brisbane Writers Festivals, and the National Folk festival, Canberra. A former journalist for Vogue and the Sunday Telegraph, Kerrie is Senior Lecturer at the School of the Arts & Media, UNSW Sydney, a 2024 Visiting Fellow at the State Library of New South Wales, and writes for the Conversation. Paula McLean is Patron and immediate past Deputy Chair of the Stella Prize, now serving as Stella’s NSW Ambassador. She is on the Board of the Country Education Foundation of Australia and is also a founding trustee of McLean Foundation which supports literature, education, conservation and domestic violence. Paula is Patron of Pop In, a domestic violence day centre in Moss Vale, NSW. She is a member of the Wingecarribee Women Writers set up to celebrate women’s stories, voices and creativity in the Southern Highlands of NSW. She is a founding member of the She Gives Advisory Group, a national initiative to celebrate, connect and inspire women in their giving to accelerate positive social change. Amplifying and supporting the voice of women has always been at the forefront of her work. In 2021 Paula was awarded Philanthropy Australia’s Lifetime Achievement Award. On Saturday 12 July, 2025 commencing at 4:30pm, Kerrie and Paula will be in conversation in The Dining Room, Dormie House, 38 Arthur Street, Moss Vale.
